We impart training to underprivileged and unreached communities to improve livelihood opportunities and skill development of functionaries.
Deepak Foundation conducts the training of farmers under the Agriculture and Technology Management Agency of Vadodara and Chhota Udepur districts. The project aims at creating sustainable livelihood opportunities by capacity building of farmers to increase their economic independence in the areas of agriculture, animal husbandry and dairy development. The training is provided to farmers in using natural resources and helping them in non-pesticide management. The objective of the training is to develop the technical and managerial effectiveness of the farmers. Apart from that, skills training is also imparted for the making of Nimastra, Brahmastra, Agniastra and Amrut Pani.

One of the key components of the National Rural Health Mission is to provide a trained female community health activist ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) per 1000 population in every village of the country. ASHA is trained to work as an interface between the community and the public health system.
The training equips ASHA with necessary knowledge and skills such as measuring body temperature, blood pressure washing neonates, infants and pregnant mothers, taking blood samples for malaria, pregnancy detection, etc.
A total of 7330 ASHAs have been trained in 277 batches between the year 2017-18 & 2018-19.
Certificate Course in Community Health (CCCH)
Deepak Foundation has been empaneled by SIFHW & IIPHG for conducting Bridge program in community health (Certificate Course in Community Health). This program aims at increasing the availability of human resources in rural and remote areas. The 6-month course is designed to place qualified students as Mid-Level Health Care Providers and designated as ‘Community Health Officers’ (CHO).’
Training of a batch of 39 students has been completed and 2 batches with 60 students are taking place.
Home Health Aide
Deepak Foundation under the affiliation of the Healthcare Sector Skill Council and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) conducts nationally approved Home Health Aide (HHA) courses in Vadodara and Hyderabad. The 3-month certification course provides an opportunity for an individual in rural, tribal, and urban areas to work as caretakers in hospitals, nursing homes, and multi-specialty hospital.
A total of 406 students have been registered and trained between the years 2018 and 2019.
House Keeping cum Cookery Course
This project aims at increasing employability by providing skill development training in the domestic sector to gain wage employment opportunities.
This 20 days’ course has been completed covering 37 beneficiaries in the year 2018-19.
IVDP - Palghar
Deepak Foundation and JMFF jointly developed and implemented the Integrated Village Development Project in seven villages of Mokhada block in Palghar district, Maharashtra. The program includes activities such as the capacity building of Self Help Groups, providing soil health card, distribution & monitoring of cashew saplings, promotion of vegetable crops, drumstick trees plantation & monitoring, farm equipment distribution, training programs for farmers and establishing Help Desk to facilitate utilization of government schemes, etc.
Till June 2019, 4557 cashew saplings were distributed to 788 farmers, 2947 drumstick saplings were distributed to 357 farmers, 33 farmers were registered for cluster farming activity, 1073 trenches were dug over 10.85-acre land, 57 farmers were provided good quality rice seeds on 50% subsidy and 979 people received for the government schemes through Help Desk.
Paripurna – Kawant, Naswadi
Deepak Foundation has initiated project ‘Paripurna’ with the support of Millenium Alliance and Deepak Group of Companies for 6000 marginal tribal women farmers in 88 villages of Kawant and Naswadi blocks of Chhota Udepur district in Gujarat.
The project focuses on the key processes like Product design of Instant Meal Mix, Community engagement and capacity building of FPCs.
Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY), Chhota Udepur
Deepak Foundation implemented the project ‘Saksham’ in Halol, Kalol and Vadodara blocks of Panchmahal and Vadodara districts with the objective of skill-building of 60 women and improving children’s health by supplying nutritious meals to 2200 school children.
TOTO - Construction of Farm Pond
The project was implemented in three villages of Kalol and Halol blocks with the objective of water conservation through ponds, plantation and by creating awareness and about the importance of the subject.
The project also aims at capacity building of community-based organizations on water conservation management and increasing green cover of the village by constructing farm ponds and planting trees and shrubs surrounding the pond.
GE T&D India Limited
The project aims at the promotion and application of new technologies of water-saving, organic farming, vegetable cultivation, improved dairy cattle care management, building the cognitive base of primary students, creating awareness about promotive and preventive healthcare.
The overall objective of the project is to engage women in strengthening their institution-building and village economy through the above-mentioned sustainable ways.
Farmer Producer Organization (FPO), Chhota Udepur
FPO project is being implemented in 20 villages of Kawant and Naswadi blocks of Chhota Udepur. This project is implemented for enhancing the capacity of poor agricultural farmers in marketing their agricultural produce. Few farmer leaders, Board of Directors, and CEO of FPOs facilitate this activity. The FPO provides necessary handholding support towards maturity for a minimum period of 3 years.

Water conservation & environment management, Panchmahal
In the Panchmahal district of Gujarat, water availability for irrigation is erratic. However, the major occupation of the population of the villages in inner blocks of Halol and Kalol is agriculture. 200 villages in Halol & Kalol blocks of Panchmahal are mainly rain-fed with only a few villages adopting irrigation techniques. Water levels in wells remain low post-Diwali. This project addresses the issue through activities that can demonstrate models for effective irrigation, namely (farm) ponds for water recharge and plantation to creating a green environment.
