Disability & Special Needs
Deepak Foundation inked a MoU with the Department of Health and Family Welfare to impart skills training to grassroots health functionaries and build their capacities. Therefore, with this goal in mind, a state-of-the-art Institute for Skills Building, Research, and Innovation (ISBRI) was established in 2011. The facility is currently utilized for conducting trainings and capacity building sessions of functionaries in livelihood and healthcare sector.

Samaj Suraksha Sankul
Samaj Suraksha Sankul is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) between Deepak Foundation and Department of Social Justice and Empowerment (Govt. of Gujarat), under which the foundation has undertaken the operations and management of the institute. Sankul is a residential (boys only) and support institute for: Visually Impaired, Physically Challenged, Children in need of Care and Protection and After-Care. The institute is home to over 150 children aged 6-21 and also operates a primary school and a learning centre.

Vocational Training
We offer skills training of children with disabilities and their peers. It is our aim to make the children of Sankul able to live independently after the age of 18 years. Candidates have been enrolled for various courses such as computer training, home health aide, housekeeping, electrician, delivery boy, etc. Once they reach an employable age, we help with their placements and in 2018-19 the average salary earned was Rs. 9038/month. In addition to employable skills, we also train them for arts, gardening, pottery, cooking, sewing, etc.

Early intervention Centre

Sankul has initiated an Early Intervention Centre for children with special needs between the age of 0 and 6 years to increase visual functioning, sensory awareness, communication, and social skills. An Individualized Development Plan is made for all children involving communication, social, physical, and emotional development skills in order to make them school ready. At the end of their program, their integrated into mainstream schools.

Consortium for Inclusive Education
Consortium for Inclusive Education
Consortium for Inclusive Education is a state-level initiative of Deepak Foundation and funded by Gujarat CSR Authority, with a mission of supporting regular schools in integrating children with special needs and ensuring that they continue to receive an equal and high-quality education. Under this initiative, we have trained more than 500 teachers and special educators, conducted awareness and sensitization drives, focus group discussions, teaching learning material exhibitions, etc. We are also supporting 23 blind children in mainstream schools of Vadodara.
